Celebrating the life of
Warren E. Elze
September 01, 1923 - April 29, 2013
Warren Earle Elze
Warren Earle Elze, born September 1, 1923, passed away peacefully at home in Savannah, GA on April 29, 2013. Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, Warren was a much loved, admired, and respected husband, father, and community leader.
During WWII he served in the Naval Air Corps and met the love of his life, Nora Giavelli, whom he married in 1945. After they both graduated from Bucknell University, Lewisburg, PA in 1948 – Warren with a BS degree in Commerce & Finance – they were both employed by Bucknell for 38 years.
Warren managed the University Bookstore so successfully and profitably that he received many awards, including Manager of the Year, and was elected President of the NACS National Association of College Stores from 1973-74. Over a period of years, the NACS sponsored his travels throughout the US and the world as a motivational speaker and consultant helping other college stores succeed.
A practical hard-working frugal man of utmost honesty and integrity, Warren was a gifted entrepreneur who also started and ran several successful businesses in his spare time while he and Nora raised four children.
After retiring in 1985, Warren and Nora spent half his remaining years in Lewisburg and half in Savannah, enjoying hobbies such as golf, gardening, reading, woodworking, crafts, boating and card games with family and friends.
Warren is survived by his beloved life-partner of 67 years, their children Ellen, CPA − Savannah, Martin − Atlanta, Gail – Chicago, Lynne – San Francisco, 3 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren.
Warren, your family and friends love you dearly and are so grateful for the many wonderful years we shared with you − and for the Grace-full ease of your passing. May you rest in peace and be free.
A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
